Helping Hands of Glenview

Volunteering

Man Standing with Woman and Walker

Volunteer drivers are the heart and soul of Helping Hands of Glenview. Providing transportation to the elderly can ease an overwhelming burden. Frequency of driving is very flexible - once a week or once a month. Any time is most appreciated by our clients and is a key ingredient that enables them to remain in their own homes.

Trips provided by our volunteers take no more than two hours and client destinations are usually within five miles of their homes one-way and never more than ten. We provide 35 - 40 rides per month so there is a continuous need for new volunteer drivers and we welcome your interest in this activity. Clients seeking transportation must follow our Ride Guidelines.

A volunteer can drive as often or as seldom as desired. Attached is a Volunteer Driver Form which gives the driver the opportunity to indicate preferences. In addition to this completed form, we are required to have a copy of your automobile insurance card and a copy of your Illinois Driver's license. If you have questions about volunteering for Helping Hands, please call (847) 729-8181.

Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering for Helping Hands. We are confident you will find your involvement very rewarding!
